Stair
Lift Reviews
Stair lift is a device that is used for carrying people up and down
the stairs. This device comes with a chair or platform for people/goods and usually
runs on a rail fitted to either the wall or the stairs itself. Before talking about stair lift reviews it would
be good to get a little background on what type of stair lift meets your needs.
Stair
lifts are used to lift a disabled or elderly person up or down the stairs with
just pushing a button. The most common is that stair lift can move someone who
has become too infirm to get up and down the stairs because of age, illness or
injury. Moving to a single-level house may be a solution, of course, but often
that is impractical. With the installation of the stair lift, an aging parent
or relative can be moved in or the difficulty in carrying groceries or laundry
from one level to another can be overcome. The stair lift has a seat
or platform for the people to sit on. The seat along with the motor (operated
either on AC or DC or both) is the component, which moves on a rail fitted to
the stairs or the wall, and normally runs on small diameter rollers. The rail
is made of either aluminium or steel that fits directly to the treads of the stairs,
and the stair lift motor pulls the stair lift along the tracks. The
benefits of a stair lift are numerous. Primarily, a stair lift can be used to
carry a less mobile or elderly person from one floor to another. The elderly and
the disabled persons' concern of getting from one floor to another are addressed
with ease by the push of a button of the stair lift. We will feel confident and have peace of mind knowing that
our loved one is safely transported by the stair lift equipment. It also offers
transporting luggage, laundry, groceries and other heavy articles from one floor
of the house to another. It is a comfortable mode of transport and mobility assistance
for those with debilitating conditions. It saves use of the knee joint by climbing
up or down often. So why should a person use stair lift? The
following could be the reasons for above question, 1) The person is concerned
climbing stairs and feels that it takes the breath away. 2) The person may
be forced to live upstairs and suffer from arthritis or other such problems to
make the climb strenuous. 3) He/she may be concerned about the safety of
their loved ones when they can't always be beside them. 4) The person is
elderly or might have an elderly or disabled person in their home. In the
above cases the Stair lift is the ultimate choice, as it is a low cost alternative
when stairs become an obstacle. The Stair lift consist of a chair which
is very easy to access, along with the chair a seat belt is provided for safety.
An elderly or disabled person can sit(wear the seat belt if needed) and go up
or down the floor with the touch of a button or a joystick. Moreover these lifts
can also be accessed with the help of a Remote control. The stair lift is
usually installed in a wide stairs. So people can walk in the stairs when the
stair lift is in operation. The Stair lifts can be classified as follows, 1)
AC Powered: The AC powered Stair lifts are directly powered from the main supply.
It needs a power of about 110 to 115 V AC. This type of stair lifts is much cheaper
than the Battery operated stair lifts. 2) Battery Powered: This is also
called as the DC powered Stair lifts. They operate with the help of a battery
and need to recharge when the power is down in the battery. Further the
design of the stair lifts can be classified into two types depending on the type
of stairs used, they are 1) Straight Stair Lifts: If the staircase used
is straight then straight stair lifts are used. 2) Curved Stair Lifts: If
the staircase used is sprial then curved stair lifts are used. The
