occurs when blood glucose levels become too high. The general rule is when blood
glucose is higher then 180 mg/dl (in US units) or 10mmol/L (in UK units) measured
two hours after food, it is called hyperglycaemia. It is important for diabetics
to be aware of high blood sugar. How
is Hyperglycaemia Caused? Hyperglycaemia
can occur when food, activity and medication for diabetes are not balanced. Below
are common causes: ·
Too much food or the wrong type food · Not enough insulin ·
Poor injection technique · Overuse of injection sites ·
Infections or illness · Stress · Increase in weight
· Untreated diabetes · Not enough diabetic medication
